Athletistic/MMA. Legendary American mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson, now living in Russia, named Russian Islam Makhachev and American Dustin Poirier as favorites for the fight. In this fight, the UFC lightweight championship, currently held by Makhachev, is on the line.

“Poirier is training with a team of the highest level, and Dostin will be well prepared for the fight with Makhachev. Poirier is still in good shape. Dustin has excellent jiu-jitsu, but it is obvious that in this fight he is an excellent underdog player. Because Islav’s wrestling is simply fantastic!

I think we are going to experience a big fight. It will be very competitive. But it is obvious that Makhachev is the favorite,” Monson said according to Sport-Express.

The fight between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier will take place on the night of June 2 in Newark (New Jersey, USA). This fight will be the main event of UFC 302.

At the age of 32, Makhachev has won 25 victories and suffered 1 defeat in MMA. Poirier, 35, has 39 fights in the octagon – 30 wins, 8 losses and one failed fight.
