The International Boxing Federation has yet to relinquish its title to the absolute champion.
The IBF will not take away its championship belt from Alexander Usik. Journalist Michael Benson reported it.
The International Boxing Federation has decided that the June 1 fight between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois will take place for the interim super heavyweight title.
We remind you that previously there was a possibility that the IBF would strip the Ukrainian of the belt and allow the Croatian and the British to compete for it in a head-to-head fight. However, the Ukrainian team asked to be kicked out and retain the title for the absolute champion.
Usyk has retained all of his titles so far, but the winner of the Hrgovic-Dubois fight could be promoted to full champion status in the coming months. The decision on this has not yet been made.
It was previously known when the rematch between Usik and Fury would take place.
