“Makhachev is a true champion. I did a great job avoiding his takedowns. Today I had a lot of success. But when Islam went for the choke, I realized it was the end.
And my future? To be honest, I don’t know anything at the moment. I have a daughter. And for now, I don’t know what I will do next,” Poirier said in a flash interview in the middle of the octagon.
Dustin Poirier fought 39 fights in MMA – he won 30 and suffered 9 defeats. The American stopped one step away from the championship belt for the third time – he previously lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira.
Islam Makhachev defended his UFC title for the third time. He now has 26 victories and one defeat in mixed martial arts.
