Athletistic/MMA. Russian mixed martial arts fighter Arman Tsarukyan has responded to compatriot Islam Makhachev’s UFC lightweight champion’s desire to move up to the welterweight category. Arman called on Islam to take revenge.

“Congratulations, Islam! But don’t try to run away to another division. You’ve only defended your title once against a true lightweight, and I’m next in line!” — wrote Tsarukyan on his social media page.

Islam Makhachev early in the morning of June 2 (Moscow time) defeated American Dustin Poirier in the main fight of the UFC 302 tournament. The 32-year-old Russian won by choke in the fifth round. After the fight, Makhachev, in a flash interview directly in the octagon, announced his desire to fight for the welterweight title.

Islam Makhachev has 26 wins with one loss during his mixed martial arts career. Arman Tsarukyan now has 22 victories and three defeats.

On April 20, 2019, at the UFC tournament in St. Petersburg, Islam Makhachev defeated Arman Tsarukyan by unanimous decision.
