Three Russian representatives took part in the ONE Friday Fights 65 tournament, which took place on Friday, May 31 at the Lumpini Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The organizers are the ONE Championship league, the largest martial arts league in Asia. At stake in one of the fights of this weekly qualifying series was a contract worth $100,000, for which Tuvan Chayan Oorzhak fought.
Dmitry Kireev (Yekaterinburg) against Tun Min Aung (Myanmar)
Domination is the word that perfectly describes the impressive performance of Dmitry Kireev, who defeated Tun Min Aung by unanimous decision. Less than 10 seconds into their ONE featherweight (70.3kg) Muay Thai bout, the undefeated Russian planted his 17-year-old opponent with a forehand. After that, he continued to pull heavily, meeting almost no resistance. The Archangel Michael fighter came into the fight with powerful and fast jabs, punches and hooks, and even when his Burmese opponent tried to push for combinations, he easily kept his distance, moving away to return and continue the assault. After the final bell, all three judges gave Kireev the victory by unanimous decision, improving his perfect record to 5-0 in his ONE Championship debut.
Abdulla Dayakaev (Dagestan) vs. Avatar PK Saenchai (Thailand)
Abdulla Dayakaev earned his third straight ONE Championship victory, defeating seasoned veteran Avatar PK Saenchai in the adjacent 147-pound (66.7 kg) Muay Thai division. The Russian striker walked with confidence, as evidenced by the fact that he stalked his opponent early in the fight and pulled off numerous combinations. But the Avatar quickly began to respond with violent blows. In the second round, Dayakaev was strong with combinations again and put a lot of pressure on Saenchai at the ropes, creating opportunities for deadly elbows. In the third round, the fight was much more intense, as Avatar actively fought in the clinch and delivered numerous punches to the body. However, the judges ultimately recognized Dayakaev’s advantage and awarded him the victory by majority decision, making him the winner with a total score of 10–1 (3–0 in ONE).
Chayan Oorzhak (Tuva) vs. Carlo Bumina-ang (Philippines)
The master of sports in kickboxing Chayan Oorzhak could not beat the Filipino fighter Carlo Bumin-ang in a fight according to the rules of MMA in the ONE bantamweight (65.8 kg) and the contract for a place on the main list went to his opponent. Gym star Team Lakay brought his signature style to the fight, attacking Oorzhak and taking him down within the first minute. He then attempted a rear naked choke, but the Tuvan’s arsenal of skills allowed him to fend off those attempts. In the second round, Bumina-ang repeated the scenario, but he added a powerful takedown right hand, which stunned Oorzhak. Thanks to this, he was able to achieve the ninja choke and won by submission at 2:39 of the second round. This victory brought Bumin-ang’s record to 5–0 in ONE Championship and earned him a contract with ONE Championship worth US$100,000.
