Sugar Hill Steward explains why the world champion did not relinquish the WBC belt after his retirement.
Tyson Fury’s trainer believes the boxer could still change his mind about retiring and returning to the ring. According to Steward Shagar Hill, the holder of the WBC heavyweight title, like the average person, just needs some time to think.
“It would be good if Fury would fight the winner of the Usyk-Joshua rematch, but now he’s retired. It’s just the opinion of others whether he leaves or not. And just because you’re retired doesn’t mean you have to immediately abandon the title.
My understanding is that the WBC gave Tyson time to think about leaving. What’s wrong with it? I believe that if there are people who want to leave their job, sometimes the employer gives them time to think. Like, take a few weeks and think about it. It’s normal when people think differently about it, instead of doing what is expected of them,” Steward said in a commentary on iFL TV.
