Athletistic/MMA. Lightweight Dustin Poirier fought Islam Makhachev, despite his injury. Former UFC fighter Yves Edwards, coach of American Top Team, shared this information.

“Poirier showed impressive form on Saturday. I am aware that Makhachev was not fully prepared either, as no one enters the octagon completely healthy. However, Dustin suffered a rib injury two weeks before the fight and therefore was unable to train for wrestling for 2-2.5 weeks. However, his performance was okay. Fighting such a dangerous opponent with a rib injury deserves respect,” Edwards said, as quoted by MMA Today.

Makhachev defeated Poirier after a submission choke in the fifth round of the main bout of the UFC 302 tournament.
