Paul Malignaggi assesses the American boxer’s loss to Zhang Zhilei and believes the Bronze Bomber’s career is over.

Deontay Wilder needs to end his professional boxing career. Former world champion Paul Malignaggi thinks so.

According to him, the American in the ring is not the same as before, he has lost his “punching” instinct.

In particular, in the last fight against the Chinese Zhang Zhilei, the former heavyweight champion just exhausted himself, thinking about how to fight on defense.

“Just look at how Wilder fought Zhilei, it’s just survival. Wilder is mentally exhausted. He’s just focused on how his shots will land. Deontay Wilder is not anymore fighting the way he should have with his- then with a punching instinct .He thinks too much about defense and not enough about attack.

Wilder is the most attractive heavyweight of his generation. His three fights with Tyson Fury were incredibly exciting. Wilder was one of the best heavyweights of a very strong generation in the heavyweight division,” Boxing Scene quoted Paul as saying.

It can be remembered that Wilder lost to Zhilei by knockout in the fifth round.

Earlier, the legendary Lennox Lewis called on Wilder to retire.
