Athletistic / Boxing. President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev spoke about the fight for the title of absolute world champion between Ukrainian Alexander Usik and Briton Tyson Fury. On May 18, Usik defeated Fury by split decision and became the first outright heavyweight world champion of the 21st century.
“Do I agree with the judge’s decision in the Usik-Fury fight? In fact, the fight there went both ways. But I am of course looking forward to the fights of Bivol, Biterbiev. because they are more interesting, there are knockouts. But I didn’t want to, I would like to see a fight between them Sergey Kovalev boxed well.
To be honest, I didn’t even watch the Usik vs Fury fight, we just discussed it. It’s not interesting when there’s no motivation or risk. It was more like sparring,” Kremlev said, as quoted by the Championship.
At 35 years old, Tyson Fury had won 34 victories in 36 fights (1 draw, 1 loss) in the professional ring. Usik, 37, has 22 victories and remains an undefeated boxer.
Earlier it became known that the rematch between Fury and Usik could take place in October-November 2024.
