Previously, the American failed a doping test after the fight with Devin Haney
American boxer Ryan Garcia got into another scandal. Yesterday, June 8, cameras captured him being taken out of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (Beverly Hills, USA) in handcuffs.
As we found out, the 25-year-old athlete started a drunken brawl. He is charged with “vandalism” in the hotel room and hallway, as well as “public accusation.” According to California law, if the damage caused by the violator is estimated to be more than $400, it can be classified as a criminal offense.
Garcia’s attorney said Ryan was taken by police for “evaluation and treatment.” He was likely under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Official charges against the boxer are not yet known.
Let us remind you that at the end of May it became known that Garcia failed a repeat doping test after the fight with Devin Haney. The second sample, like the first, showed a positive result for ostarine, a drug that is used to improve endurance performance.
The Haney-Garcia fight took place in Brooklyn at the end of April. Devin was knocked down three times during the fight. According to the judges’ notes, Ryan triumphed with scores of 114:110 and 115:109. Another judge recorded a draw (112:112).
Garcia, despite the victory, did not take the championship belt from Haney, as he exceeded the agreed weight category limit. According to WBC head Mauricio Sulaiman, the belt does not become vacant, but remains with Devin. After the defeat, Haney himself immediately hinted at revenge.
