Gvozdyk hit much more often than Benavidez, but was less accurate

More than every fourth blow from Alexander went “into milk”

The statistics of the blows of the fight for the vacant title of interim WBC light heavyweight champion between the American have become known David Benavidez and Ukrainian Alexander Gvozdyk.

As it turned out, Alexander struck much more often – 699 versus 521 from his opponent. At the same time, the American was much more accurate – 223 hits versus 163. The percentage of hits is clear: 43% for Benavidez and only 23% for Gvozdyk. More than every fourth blow from Alexander went “into milk.”

If in terms of accurate jabs there was approximately equality (60:55 in favor of David), then in terms of power strikes the American had a crushing advantage – 163:108.

Alexander managed to surpass David in the number of accurate strikes in the last two rounds, but this was not enough. Let us remind you that the American won a landslide victory by unanimous decision – 116-112, 117-111 and 119-109.

The 37-year-old Gvozdyk suffered his first defeat since his return to the ring in February 2023. Earlier, in 2020, the Ukrainian ended his career, but then decided to return to professional boxing.
