Freestyle wrestling world champion Abasgadji Magomedov announced that he would personally travel to Paris to watch the competitions at the Olympic Games.
The IOC on Saturday released the names of fourteen Russian athletes who, as of June 15, had been granted neutral status to compete at the 2024 Games in Paris. Among them are ten representatives of the struggle: Nachyn Mongush, Shamil Mamedov, Arslan Bagaev, Abdulla Kurbanov, Alan Ostaev, Magomed Murtazaliev, Natalya Malysheva, Veronika Chumikova, Alina Kasabieva and Elizaveta Petlyakova.
“It’s a shame that our best athletes, our Olympic champions, were not allowed in.” We prepare so much, we practice so much. The Olympics are a dream for every wrestler. It’s a shame that it has to be this way.
— Do you want to go yourself?
– Of course, I would like to. But they allowed the one to whom I lost in the final of the Russian Championship. I’ll just go to Paris to applaud.
—Are you going to fly in person?
– Yes. I have people very close to me who will fight for other countries. I have a friend there, like a brother. “I will support him,” reports the correspondent, according to Magomedov’s words.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
