Former Australian UFC Champion Robert Whittaker and his opponent from Russia Ikram Aliskerov reached the middleweight limit ahead of the UFC tournament in Riyadh.
Aliskerov’s weight was 83.4 kg, Whittaker’s weight was 84.3 kg on the scales. According to the tournament regulations, fighters must present the weight stipulated in the fight contract during the official weigh-in the day before the tournament from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
For Aliskerov, the fight with Whittaker will be his first appearance in the main event of a UFC tournament. The 31-year-old Russian replaced Khamzat Chimaev; this fight will be his third in the UFC promotion. His opponent, Whittaker, was the UFC middleweight champion but lost the title to Israel Adesanya in 2019.
The UFC tournament in Riyadh will take place on June 22. Thematic TV channel “Match!” Fighter” will broadcast the fights from 19:00 (Moscow time), broadcasting on the federal channel “” will begin at 22:00 (Moscow time). The broadcast will also be available on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
