— The atmosphere at the BRICS Games is wonderful! I was here for judo, now for boxing. I am happy that our boxers are participating in international competitions. The BRICS Games are a counterweight to all those who are against us, to all the sanctions.
— How would you assess the level of the Russian boxing team here?
– The level is simply excellent. The guys have already shown themselves and will show themselves again. All the boxers we have here are good.
— How does the atmosphere of the BRICS Games compare to that of the Olympic Games?
— I have just arrived at the BRICS Games. The atmosphere here is great, the attitude is warm, everyone helps each other. And the opponents are strong – the national teams of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The level of competition here is good. Our team has stagnated a bit because of the sanctions, and now it is important that it proves itself at international level and continues to grow. I am sure that everything will be better soon and our boxers will compete everywhere, ”the correspondent of reports Povetkin’s words.
Povetkin won the 2004 Olympics in the weight category above 91 kg, and then successfully competed as a professional. The boxer now holds the post of vice-governor of the Vologda region.
