A rematch between Fury and Usik is planned for December this year
Cutman of the former WBC world champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) Jorge Capetillo commented on the upcoming second fight of the “Gypsy King” with the absolute world champion, the current holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO/WBC heavyweight belts Alexander Mustache (22-0, 14 KOs).
“I think you need pace, keep your arms higher, jump a little less on your feet. Instead of jumping, he might just fight because Tyson is too big and heavy for his opponent. You can jump for a few seconds if necessary, but not for several rounds.”
“He needs to box more, stay alert and keep his opponent on his toes. He is a bigger man and must fight back against Usyk. In the first fight, Tyson’s actions were more effective when he was the aggressor.”
On the night of May 19, Usik inflicted the first defeat of Fury in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usik became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.
It was reported that an agreement had been reached between Usyk and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Usyk and Fury will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
