Athletistic / Boxing. Former absolute world champion in the light heavyweight category, American-Russian boxer Roy Jones Jr. spoke about the death of his son DeAndre.
“Tragically, my son DeAndre took his own life last Saturday. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to come home Friday night and spend the last night of my son’s life with him and his family.
I know many are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life. God gives it to us, and it is only he who should ultimately take it back. Please respect our privacy and that of my family as we navigate this tragedy. Thank you all for your support,” Jones wrote on his social media page.
DeAndre Jones has died at age 32. Roy Jones and his wife Natlyn have two other sons: Deshawn and Roy Jones III.
In 2015, Roy Jones Jr. received Russian citizenship. In the professional ring, the legendary boxer fought 76 fights, won 66 victories and suffered 10 defeats. On April 1, in his last fight, he lost by split decision to former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
