There have been changes to the ONE Fight Night 23 card: the new main event will be a fight between Russian Alikbeg Rasulov and Ok Rae Yoon for the interim ONE lightweight champion (77.1 kg). The fight will take place on July 6 at the Lumpini Stadium in Bangkok.
Jackie Bunthan was originally scheduled to face Anissa Mehsen for the vacant ONE Women’s Strawweight Kickboxing World Championship (56.7 kg), but Bunthan withdrew due to injury.
The winner will earn a world title unification bout against current belt holder Christian Lee.
Ok Rae Yoon previously held the ONE MMA World Lightweight Championship and is now the main contender. The 33-year-old took the belt from Lee in 2021, followed by two memorable victories over Eddie Alvarez and Marat Gafurov. But in a rematch with Lee, he lost the title in 2022.
Rasulov doesn’t have as much history in the ONE lightweight division, but he will enter the ring with an impressive track record. With a perfect 14-0 professional MMA record, the 31-year-old faced strong competition in regional MMA promotions – Berkut Young Eagles, M-1, Fight Nights, AMC Fighting Championship – to earn a shot at ONE .
The Dagestan representative has trained in both Muay Thai and wrestling, so he will be able to take on grappler Ok Rae Yun with his strong wrestling and striking skills. Of his 14 victories, he won ten earlier than expected. That’s why the debutant immediately got the opportunity to fight for the ONE interim champion title in his first fight in the promotion.
