American boxer of Russian nationality Roy Jones announced the tragic death of his son Deandre at the age of 32.
“Unfortunately, my son Deandre passed away on Saturday. I am very grateful to God for allowing me to come home Friday evening to spend his last night with him and his family. I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life over. God gives it and God must be the one to take it away,” Jones wrote on his social media page.
Roy Jones became a silver medalist at the Seoul Olympics and fought 76 fights during his professional career from 1989 to 2023. The 55-year-old boxer won championship belts in four weight categories.
Roy Jones obtained Russian citizenship in 2015.
