Absolute world heavyweight champion Alexandre Usik announced on social media that he had decided to relinquish the International Boxing Federation (IBF) championship belt.

On May 19, 37-year-old Usik defeated Briton Tyson Fury by decision and became the absolute heavyweight champion of the world. He has held the IBF belt since 2021. Earlier it became known that Usyk would not be able to make the mandatory defense of the IBF title due to the clause on the rematch with Fury.
