Former UFC lightweight champion and undefeated fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov issued a new statement regarding the events that occurred in Dagestan on the evening of June 23.
According to the latest data of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Dagestan, 21 people, including law enforcement officers and civilians, fell victim to a series of terrorist attacks on this day in Makhachkala and Derbent.
— Some people, hiding behind faith, use Islam for personal and commercial purposes, which contradicts the true principles of the religion. The events in Dagestan have become a tragedy that has nothing to do with the true faith of Islam! No Islamic scholar would approve of such acts and all Islamic experts condemn them.
Attacking churches is also prohibited by Islam. When Abu Bakr Siddiq sent an army to the land of Sham, he ordered: “If you see people praying in the churches, do not touch them. “Even in times of war, the first righteous caliph forbade harming those who pray, much less in times of peace,” Nurmagomedov wrote on his social media page.
In Dagestan, June 24, 25 and 26 were declared days of mourning.
