Head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team: “Our guys will represent the country with dignity at the Olympics”

Head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team Gogi Koguashvili told that the wrestlers admitted to the Paris Olympics will represent the country with dignity and avenge all the Russians who were not admitted to this tournament.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) previously published the names of ten Russian athletes granted neutral status to participate in the 2024 Games: Nachyn Mongush, Shamil Mamedov, Arslan Bagaev, Abdulla Kurbanov, Alan Ostaev, Magomed Murtazaliev, Natalya Malysheva, Veronika Chumikova, Alina Kasabieva and Elizaveta Petliakova. Later, Chumikova refused to go to the Olympics for health reasons.

— The suspension of athletes is unfair; a lot of work has gone into preparing for the Paris Olympics. I feel sorry for the guys, the coaches, the fans who count on us. I would like to fully participate in the Olympic Games. The guys who will fight in the Greco-Roman style will represent our country with dignity at the Olympics, and not only at this one, they will avenge everyone who was not allowed in,” Koguashvili told .

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
