After facing Jamahal Hill and achieve a historic knockout with a broken toe, in the UFC 300, Alex Poatan will have to return to the Octagon due to a similar problem. However, this time, the Brazilian is not suffering from the injury, but rather Conor McGregorwho withdrew from the night’s main event due to injury.
Everything was ready for the Irishman to return to the main MMA stage, but a problem with his pinky foot prevented him from doing so. McGregor had been preparing to face michael chandler this Saturday, 29th, in Las Vegas, but withdrew from the fight due to the injury. Thus, Alex Poatan was placed to defend the light heavyweight belt against Jiri Procházka.
Jiri Prochazka accused Alex Poatan of winning fights using rituals and asked the Brazilian to “fight fair” in the #UFC303 . Poatan didn’t leave it cheap. And so? What do you think of Jiri’s accusation and the champion’s response? 👀 pic.twitter.com/1Uwx8Ggfv7

In an interview with ‘ESPN’, the Brazilian gave his opinion on McGregor’s decision. “I think if he did that, he did the best thing for him. Only he knows what he was feeling. Of course, there will be those who say that it’s just the toe, that Poatan fought…, but I think the guy is somewhere else. The guy’s conditions are not the same as mine. He has time in this battle within the UFC”said the champion.
Poatan made a comparison between himself and the Irishman, which explained the motivation for him to fight despite being injured and McGregor not. “I’m still a bit slow, I’m just starting out, let’s put it that way. So I think I fought because of that, but he’s in something else. The guy is doing very well in life, he’s already made his money and decided to do this. So I think he was a very smart guy, because he exposed himself a lot.”he completed.
