Russian Greco-Roman Wrestling Team Head Coach Koguashvili Denied Access to Paris Olympics

Head coach of the Russian Greco-Roman wrestling team Gogi Koguashvili told that he had not been approved for admission to the Paris Olympics.

International Olympic Committee (IOC ) previously cited the names of 14 Russian athletes who, on June 15, were granted neutral status to participate in the 2024 Games. Among them are two representatives of Greco-Roman wrestling: Alan Ostaev and Magomed Murtazaliev.

— Personally, as head coach of the Greco-Roman wrestling team, I do not have access to the Olympic Games. For two years, I have not had access to any international competition, I could say that I could only be in the warm-up sector. I didn’t have accreditation, I still don’t have official access to the Paris Olympic Games. We think something will change, that would be good.

The most important thing is that we were able to send our representative to Paris, who will professionally warm up, prepare and take the wrestlers to the competitions. The preparation of our guys is very important. It would be nice to go there with a full team, but we have what we have. I think the team will perform well even in such conditions,” Koguashvili told .

The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
