Vasily is now in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usykbelieves that the former world champion in three weight classes Vasily Lomachenko is obliged to publicly demonstrate his position during the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

“I don’t understand why he doesn’t express his position. I can’t say it. I do not understand. I don’t communicate with him so often, but very often I talk with his manager, and I know exactly what is happening and how it is happening, exactly what position Vasily takes.”
“The time will come, perhaps he will express it himself, or somehow the circumstances will turn out this way. But can a person who has other views voluntarily join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to defend his homeland? Don’t know”.
After the start of a full-scale Russian invasion, Lomachenko joined the ranks of the territorial defense of Belgorod-Dnestrovsky.
Vice-President of the League of Professional Boxing of Ukraine Alina Shaternikova spoke in support of Vasyl Lomachenko, saying that he faithfully serves the people of Ukraine.
According to Top Rank, Lomachenko’s next fight is scheduled for October 22. As soon as the company receives confirmation that Vasily is leaving Ukraine, an opponent will be selected for him and the venue for the fight will be determined.
Lomachenko fought his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision.
Subsequently, Lomachenko could fight George Kambosos, but pulled out against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
