Teofimo will defend his title against Claggett on June 29 in Miami.
Father of the WBO light welterweight world champion, American Teofimo Lopez (19–1, 13 KOs) — Teofimo Lopez Sr. — commented on the upcoming fight of his son against the Canadian Steve Claggett (20-3-1, 14 KOs).
“The amount of damage and punches my son is going to inflict on this guy, Claggett has never seen anything like it. We take all our fights seriously and you are going to see the best Teofimo Lopez.”
“This is the best fight he has ever had, where he will show off all his skills.”
Teofimo will make another title defense against Claggett on June 29 in Miami. The event will take place at the James L. Knight Center.
Let us remind you that the fight between Lopez and Claggett became known in March. The parties had already reached a consensus, but it took time to agree on all the details.
Last June, Teofimo announced that he was retiring as a boxer and renouncing the championship title, but later changed his mind about leaving boxing and announced his readiness to defend his belt. The American managed to challenge the absolute world lightweight champion Devin Haney.
On the night of February 9, 2024, Lopez retained his WBO light welterweight title with a unanimous decision win over Jemaine Ortiz.
