Konstantin Glukhov about a possible fight with Alexander Emelianenko: “Since I lost in MMA, then revenge must be taken in MMA”

MMA fighter Konstantin Glukhov, who obtained Russian citizenship, told when and with whom he would like to have his first fight in his new status.

Glukhov received Russian citizenship on June 28 in Moscow after public statements about his desire to renounce his status as a Latvian citizen. The 44-year-old fighter spent a significant part of his career in Russia and lost in 2012 by unanimous decision. Alexander Emelianenko at the M-1 Challenge 34 tournament in Moscow. Glukhov’s last official fight took place in Ulyanovsk, where the mixed martial arts veteran lost to Vladimir Mineev under kickboxing rules.

— When would you like to have your first fight as a Russian citizen?

— I think end of August or September. In general, I think it will be good in September. I will no longer just write “Moscow”, because I live in Moscow (I was just asking not to say that I am a Latvian citizen), but now I am a Russian citizen and I can officially go out with the flag of the Russian Federation.

— You said you were ready to fight with Alexander Emelianenko. By what rules do you want to proceed?

“Actually, if he gets in shape, he’s a really dangerous fighter.” By what rules? He’s a good, strong boxer. In boxing, even he’ll probably have a better chance. He has little chance in kickboxing. I think since I lost in MMA, then the rematch should be in MMA. Basically, MMA or boxing, those two guys.

— Could a rematch with Mineev be interesting?

– I think he himself is not interested. Additionally, he said he will graduate this year.

— And Magomed Ismailov?

– Ismailov… I don’t know at all. There is nothing wrong with him, he has a different weight. I am a heavyweight, I know that there are many strong ones in the ASA league. You really need to go there in good shape, I would also like to have a rematch with Baga Agayev, I also offered it to him, he is also an older fighter, but it has not worked out yet,” Glukhov told .
