Golovkin: Canelo win would be biggest of my career

Boxers will hold their third fight on September 17

Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) believes that a possible victory over the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (57-2-2, 37 KOs) will be the pinnacle of his career.

“I’m sure it won’t be an easy fight. My opponent is a champion, perhaps the best fighter in this weight class. The victory over him would be the biggest in my career, ”said the boxer.

“I don’t look back at our previous fights. A lot of time has passed, we are already different fighters.

I think I will be quite fresh during the fight. I’m ready for a physical confrontation,” Golovkin said.

Alvarez and Golovkin will fight on September 17 for the title of undisputed world champion in the second middle weight category. The fight will take place in Las Vegas.

After the fight, Golovkin will have 5 days to decide which category to stay in. If Gennady decides to defend the middleweight title, he will face Cuban Erislandy Lara.

The first fight between Canelo and Golovkin in September 2017 ended in a draw. A year later, the Mexican won by split decision.

In May, Alvarez suffered the second defeat of his career, losing to Russian Dmitry Bivol in a fight for the world light heavyweight title. Golovkin fought his last fight in April, defeating Japan’s Reta Murata via TKO to unify two middleweight titles.
