American, former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier declared his readiness to replace the Russian fighter Arman Tsarukian in a fight with the title holder Islam Makhachev .
Earlier, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) disqualified and fined Tsarukyan for a fight with a fan at UFC 300. The incident occurred on April 13 ahead of Tsarukyan’s fight with Brazilian Charles Oliveira. The victory in the fight made Tsarukyan a contender for Makhachev’s lightweight championship belt.
“If Tsarukian can’t fight, then let’s start over,” Poirier wrote on social media, addressing Makhachev.
Makhachev defeated Poirier on June 1 at UFC 302 in the United States. The Russian won by fifth-round submission and retained the UFC championship belt.
During his MMA career, Islam Makhachev had 26 victories with one defeat. Poirier has 30 victories, nine defeats, one fight was declared invalid.
