Peter Fury: Tyson needs to dust himself off, come back and do better next time

Peter believes that Tyson underestimated his opponent

Uncle and former trainer of former WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury Peter Fury believes that the “Gypsy King” should significantly change his style and work in the ring during the repeated confrontation with the Ukrainian Alexander Usik.

“Tyson needs to dust himself off, come back and do better next time. What does it mean to lose? What did you do wrong. When you fight such elite champions, the best in the world, you don’t get to say whether you’re going to win or not.”

“You have to do everything you can. So next time he has to be better, do his job right, and hopefully he will win.”

Let us recall that on the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Alexander became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.

Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world heavyweight champion, which he had held for more than a month.

An agreement has been concluded between Usik and Fury for a re-fight. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.
