After another gala performance at UFC 303, Alex’Poatan‘ Pear Tree gained great prominence among the specialized press, and even from the president of the organization, Dana White. In the press conference after the event, the president admitted to having made a mistake in his prediction about the Brazilian, believing that he would not do so well in MMA.

“It’s incredible. No, I didn’t think so. Especially when you have a guy who comes from kickboxing, has a long kickboxing career and is older coming to the UFC. I thought exactly the opposite, ‘This guy isn’t going to do very well here, he’s going to get taken down, crushed, submitted, all that kind of stuff.’ But I was mistaken“, he declared at the time.
The second knockout over Jiri Prochazka also confirmed the second successful defense of the light heavyweight belt, after overcoming Jamahal Hill two months earlier. In the same interview, in fact, Dana White left open the possibility of a trilogy with Israel Adesanya in a near future.
