Russian-Uzbek fighter Bogdan Guskov who ranks 12th in the UFC light heavyweight division, told who he would like to fight next.
Guskov has won back-to-back UFC fights in 2024, knocking out Zach Pauga and Ryan Spann. Previously, the 31-year-old fighter indicated that he could fight against Anthony Smith, a former contender for the light heavyweight championship belt, who lost to Roman Dolidze at the UFC 303 tournament on June 29 in Las Vegas. Smith and Guskov posted joint photos on social media, noting their similarities in appearance.
—Don’t you think that after Smith’s defeat, now is the perfect time to fight?
— He is ranked 10th in the UFC, I am ranked 12th, so I was pretty close to him before. The rankings will be updated on Tuesday and we will see how things change and what will happen in the light heavyweight division rankings. Actually, they offered me this fight, they offered me to come as a substitute, but there was a week or eight days left, and I had to fly from Moscow to Las Vegas, and besides, I hadn’t fought, so it was a long time ago. At the moment, my rehabilitation is pretty serious, so I declined.
— Does rehabilitation limit you in terms of return time?
“It’s coming to an end, so I think it will be the end of September or October.” Maybe at the Abu Dhabi tournament.
— What are the three most interesting names for you at the moment?
– Dominick Reyes, Anthony Smith and, probably, I would like a rematch with Volkan Oezdemir. But now, after his victory, he moved up to the top 5, so this is probably the most unrealistic option for me. But he’s interesting because he fought for the belt, and I would like to test my strength with him in full preparation. Now I would be better prepared and our fight would turn out to be more interesting,” Guskov told .
