IBA has filed an appeal against the CAS decision with the Swiss Federal Court

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has filed an appeal with the Swiss Federal Supreme Court against the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to uphold the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) decision to withdraw recognition of the IBA as the legitimate governing body of boxing in July 2023, the organization’s website says.

The IBA was stripped of its recognition by the IOC last summer. The organisation’s exclusion from the Olympic movement was subsequently supported by the CAS.

— The IBA rejects the IOC’s position and demands further clarification on the rejected appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Swiss Federal Tribunal is investigating whether the CAS decision was unlawful. The acceptance of our appeal by the Swiss Federal Tribunal is an incredibly positive development for the boxing world, as only a small number of cases are accepted by the court at this level, which indicates the complexity of the issue,” the IBA said.

In 2023, the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in international competitions wearing national symbols, contrary to IOC recommendations.
