Athletistic / Boxing. Azerbaijani mixed martial arts fighter Javid Rzayev has explained his behavior after the fight with Russian Sergei Prikhodko. Rzayev allowed himself to make offensive remarks based on ethnic reasons.
“I made an unacceptable mistake. I want to apologize to all of Russia: to society and to everyone whose feelings I hurt with my words, I will try to earn your forgiveness with my actions.
I’m not making excuses, but I want to say that at that moment, after the fight, I was emotional, because I missed a lot of shots.
“I repent very much, this whole situation is extremely unpleasant for me. I hope that you will forgive me and I will do everything by my actions to deserve this forgiveness. Russia is my home, the Russian people, one might say, are one with me. I really hope that I will be understood and forgiven,” Rzayev is quoted by TASS.
At the Hardcore promotion tournament, Rzaev defeated Russian Sergei Prikhodko. After the fight, right in the ring, the Azerbaijani got into a verbal altercation with another Russian fighter, Artur Kulinsky. As a result, Javid insulted Kulinsky for ethnic reasons and then tried to start a fight.
Note that the Russian Boxing Federation disqualified Rzaev for an indefinite period and also wrote a statement to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
