American debuts at junior welterweight
Former Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Teofimo Lopez (16-1, 12 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight against the Mexican Pedro Campa (33-1-1, 22 KOs) and announced his goals in the new division.
“I took the lead in the lightweight division and I’m going to do the same in junior welterweight. Soon I will become a world champion in two weight categories. Every welterweight contender and champ, better be careful cause I’m on my way to clean up the division.”
“Pedro Campa is a strong opponent with an aggressive Mexican style. I can’t wait to put on a show for the fans. I am only 25 years old. My best years are yet to come. Pedro Campa is the beginning of a new chapter in my career.”
“I call this fight a return, because I am going to return what I have lost. One defeat doesn’t define a fighter, and it doesn’t define me either.”
Recall that Lopez and Campa will fight on August 13 in Las Vegas.
For Lopez, this will be his debut fight in the light welterweight division. Teofimo moved up to a different weight class after losing to George Kambosos last November.
Campa, 30, last fought in August last year, defeating Abimael Cruz Bautista by TKO.
