The former super middleweight world champion criticized the organization’s decision to make the British title fight.

Oleksandr Usik should not have been stripped of the IBF belt and given to Daniel Dubois. This is what former super middleweight world champion Carl Froch said.

He called the organization’s decision political and dishonest, and also accused promoter Eddie Hearn and Saudi Arabian Turki of greed.

“I don’t understand how this fight is an IBF title fight I don’t understand how the winner of this fight can raise their hands holding a beautiful red and gold belt British title fight.

These are the two British fighters who lost to champion Usyk. There is no need to strip Alexander of the IBF belt. Usyk is the undisputed champion, and now AJ and Daniel will fight for the championship title. You cannot raise your hand at the end of this fight and call yourself a world champion. You both lost to Usyk – Dubois once, Joshua twice. Therefore it is not fair.

Why was Usik’s IBF belt removed? Because politics interferes with boxing. There’s Eddie Hearn, there’s the Turks, there’s a lot of money in boxing. The IBF has decided that the belt is now vacant. I don’t think this belt should be vacant. Usyk should hold it firmly in Usyk’s hands, and whoever wins in September should have the opportunity to fight the champion,” said Froch, 47, on his Froch on Fighting channel.

We remind you that Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision and became the first absolute heavyweight champion since 1999. The rematch is scheduled for December 21st.

The Joshua-Dubois fight will take place in London on September 21.
