Undefeated Mexican lightweight boxer William Cepeda (31-0, 27 KO) knocked out the American Giovanni Cabrera (22-2, 7 KOs) in a fight that took place in Ontario, California, USA.
In the first round, Cabrera managed to cause problems for the Mexican, the left-hander landed several good blows to William’s head and body. Then the Mexican took the initiative and broke through Giovanni’s defense with powerful blows.
The denouement came in the third round. Zepeda landed a punch to the liver, which exposed his opponent. Cabrera missed the next series and sank to the ring. The American was able to get up after the referee counted to ten.
The 28-year-old Cepeda plans to fight for one of the lightweight titles next. The most likely opponent is considered to be the WBO belt holder, Ukrainian Denis Berinchyk.
