WBC Interim Light Middleweight Champion Sergey Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) will officially fight the WBO International welterweight titleholder Virgil Ortiz (21-0, 21 KO) August 10.
The event will take place in Las Vegas at the Michelob Ultra Arena in the famous Mandalay Bay Casino. The interim WBC title, which Bogachuk holds, will be at stake.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian confidently defeated the American Brian Mendoza in a fight that took place in late March in Las Vegas. Following 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.
Bogachuk himself previously expressed the opinion that he should make several defenses of the interim title before arranging a high-profile fight. Among the desired future top opponents, the Ukrainian named Sebastian Fundora.
Vergil Ortiz defeated Tomas Dulorme from Puerto Rico in his last fight. The American has won all his fights ahead of schedule.
