“It’s not certain yet, negotiations are underway” – coach on wrestler Mamedov’s participation in the Olympics

The head coach of the Russian freestyle wrestling team, Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, told that the information about the participation of the Russian wrestler Shamilia Mamedova at the Paris Olympics is not correct.

On Tuesday, information appeared on the website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that Mamedov had accepted an invitation to perform at the Games.

On July 6, the FSBR reported that Russian wrestlers who had received an invitation from the IOC had refused to participate in the Paris Olympics. The federation stated that it “does not accept the principle of non-sporting selection that guided the IOC in establishing the list of eligible athletes, the purpose of which is to undermine the principle of team unity.”

– It is not yet accurate. Negotiations are currently underway. The information you have is the same as mine, too,” Gatsalov told .

The IOC has allowed the Russians to participate in the Games, which will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, subject to a number of criteria. In Paris, they will be able to perform in neutral status, but their compliance with the necessary criteria will be assessed by a special IOC commission.
