The promoters agreed on the match on September 24
The winner of the fight of the former world champion New Zealander Joseph Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) and Briton Joe Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs) will become the main contender for the duel with the victor of the second fight of the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Briton Anthony Joshua.
Parker previously held the WBO belt, losing it to Joshua. Now the New Zealander is number two in the rankings. Joyce is number one according to the WBO.
The boxers were supposed to meet each other on July 2, but Parker withdrew from the fight due to the birth of a child with his coach. The promoters of the fighters agreed on a new fight on September 24th.
In his last fight, Joyce scored his 13th stoppage victory in the professional ring, stopping the German Christian Hammer in the fourth round. In a duel with Hammer, Joyce defended the WBO International and WBC Silver heavyweight belts.
The second fight between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.
In Ukraine, the broadcast of the Usyk-Joshua rematch will be hosted by the MEGOGO media service. Usyk personally acquired the right to broadcast his fight with Joshua in order to transfer them to Ukrainian broadcasters for free.
Last fall, Usyk defeated Joshua by unanimous decision to become world heavyweight champion for the first time.
