The Kazakhstani is forced to postpone the defense of his titles with New Zealander Andrey Mikhailovich, which was planned for July 13
IBF and WBO Lightweight Champion ANDanibek alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KO) was hospitalized with dehydration ahead of his title defense against New Zealander Andrey Mikhailovich (21-0, 13 KO).
The Kazakh champion’s fight was supposed to take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 13, but has now been postponed indefinitely. Top Rank announced that the central event of the Las Vegas event will be a fight between Raymond Muratalla and former super featherweight titleholder Tevin Farmer.
Promoter Bob Arum had previously stated that after Alimkhanuly’s successful defense he planned to hold a unification fight with WBC lightweight champion Carlos Adames. Now those plans have been put on hold.
Alimkhanuly won the WBO title in May 2022, defeating Danny Dignum by knockout in the second round. The Kazakhstani subsequently successfully defended the belt several times. And in October 2023, he added the IBF title to it after a technical knockout victory over Vincenzo Gualtieri.
Mihajlovic’s last fight was in April 2024. The New Zealander won by technical knockout over Les Sherrington.
