russian boxer Alexander Povetkin in a conversation with , he admitted that he would sympathize with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch with Britain’s Anthony Joshua.
According to the former interim WBC champion and 2004 Olympic champion, the Brit needs to make drastic changes to his training.
Usyk defeated Joshua in September 2021 and won his WBA (Super), WBO and IBF heavyweight belts. The rematch is scheduled for August 20 in Saudi Arabia. Usyk has 19 wins in the professional ring, owing Joshua 24 wins with two losses.
– I will support Usyk. In the first fight he did everything right, did not miss. The only thing here is that if Joshua changes something in his preparation and his plan, then something may be different. And so, I think Usyk should win.
– There is an opinion that Joshua is a mentally weak boxer. Can he change anything?
– I can not tell. But everyone can make changes, it all depends on him.
– And what is your line-up for a potential fight for the absolute world light heavyweight title between the Russians Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev?
– It’s hard to say something (about the odds). Beterbiev is a tough and strong boxer, while Bivol is a more technical, breathing guy. Again, it’s hard to say. There will be a battle of styles.
