Ukrainian expects tactical resistance from Virgil
WBC World Champion in the light middleweight category, Ukrainian Sergey Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KO) commented on the upcoming fight against the holder of the WBO International welterweight belt Vergil Ortiz (21-0, 21 KOs).
“He knows me. He’s going to be 100 percent ready now. Ortiz knows I don’t get tired. He’s going to be ready to keep up with me. Plus, I think he’ll have better tactics to box with me. If he knows I don’t get tired, there’s no point in trading with me because he’ll get tired and I won’t. He’ll try to be cunning tactically.”
“We’ll see everything in the fight. I don’t want to make any predictions, I don’t want to make any big statements, because it’s not very nice to talk loudly first and then go out in the fight and shit yourself, to put it mildly. I don’t respect this in boxers, when they talk a lot and then just lose.”
The fight between Bogachuk and Ortiz will take place on August 10. The event will take place in Las Vegas at the Michelob Ultra arena in the famous Mandalay Bay casino. The interim WBC title, which Bogachuk holds, will be at stake.
Both boxers have already spoken about the confrontation. The Ukrainian emphasized that he is not going to part with the WBC interim world champion belt. Virgil stated that his boxing style is similar to Sergey’s.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian confidently defeated the American Brian Mendoza in a fight that took place in late March in Las Vegas. Following 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.
Vergil Ortiz defeated Tomas Dulorme from Puerto Rico in his last fight. The American has won all his fights ahead of schedule.
