Athletistic / MMA. Jon Anik, a renowned American UFC commentator, told us who he now considers to be the best MMA fighter on the planet, regardless of weight categories. His choice will please Russian mixed martial arts fans.
“Right now, the best fighter on the planet is Islam Makhachev, without a doubt. Even if you look at his last fight, he found an opportunity to get knocked down in the fifth round in a world title fight. The best fighter on the planet, I pay close attention to the lightweights and welterweights because there is very strong competition there right now.
So Makhachev is the best pound-for-pound fighter, and Jon Jones is the greatest fighter of all time. However, I’m just sharing my opinion,” Anika reportedly told Inside Fighting.
Islam Makhachev has 26 wins and one loss in his mixed martial arts career. Early in the morning of June 2 (Moscow time), he defeated American Dustin Poirier in the main fight of the UFC 302 tournament. The 32-year-old Russian won by choke in the fifth round. After the fight, Makhachev, in a flash interview right in the octagon, announced his desire to fight for the welterweight title.
