Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jeff Monson talked about the gift the fan gave to his mother.
Monson received Russian citizenship in 2018.
“Why all this, Jeff?” Why did you decide to move and change nationality, why did you decide to help people here?
— I like people in Russia. For a long time I had a fight in Penza. Before this fight, I spent three weeks in Penza. Every day I went to photo shoots and master classes. The reporter then asked, “Do you like Penza and Russia? I said I liked it, but I wanted to be in America. Why? Then my mother was very ill. She had cancer. I just went crazy about it. The day after the fight, I was walking around downtown. And met an old man: “Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. I’ve been waiting for you for two weeks. I wanted to tell you that I love your mom. Russia loves your mother.” He said so and gave a gift – icons and a cross. He said it was for my mother from Russia, – quotes the words of Monson “KP Sport”.
– Very cool!
– I cried a lot… I didn’t even know this person. You know, the real Russian soul!
Monson will face Russian fighter Vyacheslav Datsik on August 5 in Moscow.
