Athletistic/Boxing. Undefeated New Zealand boxer and WBO middleweight world champion Andrei Mikhailovich has spoken about the radical change in his life.

Mikhailovich was born in St. Petersburg in 1997, but was adopted by a New Zealand family when he was 18 months old.

“I was born in St. Petersburg. In 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed and many inequalities, economic problems and poverty appeared in the country. If you are looking for the worst and poorest place on the planet, this is where I was born.

I know my biological parents a little. I know their names and I know that I have eight brothers and sisters in Russia, but I don’t know their names. I am the tenth child in the family. My twin brother and I were sent to orphanage number 12 in St. Petersburg and I spent the first 18 months of my life there. My adoptive parents couldn’t have children, so they went to Russia and adopted my brother and me,” Mihailovich told Morning Shift.
