Russian fighter Magomed Ismailov said he will definitely have a fourth fight with his compatriot Vladimir Mineev .
On Saturday, Ismailov and Mineev will fight in Moscow under boxing rules, which will consist of eight rounds. The rivals had two fights under MMA rules in 2018 and 2021, which ended in a draw and a victory for Mineev, respectively.
On Friday, the official weigh-in procedure took place, after which AMC Fight Nights head Kamil Gadzhiev spoke with the fighters.
Kamil Gadjiev: “Vodia, between the announcement of your third fight and today, have you managed to get high?”
Vladimir Mineev after a break: “I got high and then started working.”
Kamil Gadjiev: “I don’t understand why they perceive it that way (laughs).”
Vladimir Mineev: “Everybody understands that if you don’t get high, you don’t work. In fact, I enjoy our confrontation – we are making history. Our confrontation has made history. There were two fights in MMA, now in boxing. Magomed is preparing for his fourth fight. I will upset him.”
Magomed Ismailov: “There will be a fourth fight.”
Kamil Gadjiev: “Maga, I come to you now with the same question about the pleasure of the process.”
Magomed Ismailov: “I’ve worked my ass off. We’ll have a fourth fight because I’ll win the third. I’ll win tomorrow and you’ll say, ‘What’s this? You’re not giving me a chance, but I’ll win on July 20 and I’ll wait for Vladimir in the cage. Otherwise, you’ll never see him again. So if you want to see Vladimir Mineev again, then you know who you have to root for and worry about. I’m going to help hold him (in martial arts).
At that moment Ismailov was given a sword.
Kamil Gadjiev: “Vodia, if tomorrow you suddenly lose by miracle, say right away: “Yes, there will be a fourth fight.”
Vladimir Mineev: “The result cannot be predicted 100%. Magomed is not a whip. A boxer always has a chance. And it is good that there is some kind of perspective. But it seems to me that it will be more interesting to fight with a saber.
Kamil Gadjiev: “Well, tell me about the fourth fight, and then we will decide on the rules. Today, e-sports is also growing.”
Vladimir Mineev: “Well, basically, yes, it is interesting.”
Mineev, 34, has 16 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw in MMA. In September 2022, Mineev received a call-up and joined the Russian Armed Forces in February 2023. Several times the fighter returned from the SVO zone to participate in fights under the rules of kickboxing. Ismailov, 38, has 18 wins, three losses and one draw in MMA.
Watch the live broadcast of the fight between Mineev and Ismailov on July 20 on channel, the broadcast starts at 22:00 Moscow time.
