Russian Irina Alekseeva UFC participant has been disqualified for 12 months for an anti-doping rule violation, the promotion’s press office reports.
In June 2023, the athlete underwent a doping test, which revealed traces of testosterone of exogenous origin.
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) reported the results to her and the UFC only on October 31, 2023, and Alekseeva managed to participate in the UFC tournament in Las Vegas.
On October 14, Alekseeva fought in Las Vegas and was defeated by American Melissa Mullins.
The independent body against doping in combat sports (CSAD) has decided to impose a one-year disqualification on the Russian athlete, starting from October 15, 2023.
