Athletistic/MMA. Russian UFC athlete Irina Alekseeva has shared details of her one-year disqualification for an anti-doping rule violation.

An analysis conducted by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) on June 21, 2023, revealed the presence of exogenous testosterone in Alekseeva’s urine sample. However, USADA did not inform the athlete and the UFC of the test results until October 31, 2023, more than four months after the sample was collected. By that time, Alekseeva had already managed to participate in the UFC tournament in Las Vegas on October 14, 2023.

“They found doping on me, seemingly out of nowhere. All my tests have always been clear, I have been taking only approved dietary supplements for six years now. Usually, the test results come in a week, but here they were sent almost five months later. During this time, I underwent several doping controls, including on the day of the last fight, and all were clean, although the substances that were allegedly found in me remain in the body for up to a year.

Another interesting point: this is the only case when the results of doping controls were verified in Switzerland. There were no such problems in the United States and other countries. The new anti-doping agency and the UFC suspected USADA of incompetence and refused to disqualify me, even though I risked a four-year sentence. Of course, I was very worried, but I had confidence in myself. It was a pity that they were trying to blame me for nothing.

As a result, I was suspended for a year and will be able to return to the Octagon, as planned, in October. In fact, this is not a disqualification for doping, but a suspension for the duration of the procedure. The UFC believed me, given the results of all my tests, but USADA’s Russophobia knows no bounds. I knew that justice would prevail. I feel like Kamila Valieva, except that I won this trial, “Alekseeva said according to MMA.Metaratings.ru.
