Former WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Denis Lebedev in a conversation with , he admitted that he would sympathize with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch with the British Antoine Joshua.
Usyk defeated Joshua in September 2021 and won his WBA (Super), WBO and IBF heavyweight belts. The rematch is scheduled for August 20 in Saudi Arabia. Usyk has 19 wins in the professional ring, owing Joshua 24 wins with two losses.
– I support Usyk. I don’t think Alexander will be worse, he is motivated. Although Joshua is also motivated. Usyk is getting used to this weight. I think the focus will be on speed. The only question is that he will have to fight, knit and push, jump somewhere and endure everything. But I think the focus will be on speed and footwork,” Lebedev told .
– And what is your line-up for a potential fight for the absolute world light heavyweight title between the Russians Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev?
– Purely humanly, I would not like the guys to fight between them. But I understand it will be an interesting fight and the world boxing public is waiting for this fight. I would both enjoy champion badges. They deserve it.
