The head coach of the Russian national team, Arsen Galstyan, told that none of the Russian judokas would end their careers due to their absence at the Paris Olympics.
At the end of June, the IOC allowed four Russian judokas to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in neutral status; in total, Russia had 12 quotas for participation in the Games – 7 men and 5 women. After the IOC list was published, the President of the Russian Judo Federation (RDF) Sergei Soloveichik told that Russian judokas refuse to participate fully in the 2024 Games.
— None of our judokas are going to retire because of Paris’ absence?
— No, fortunately, there were no such statements. We recently held a meeting where we talked and supported each other. Everyone wants to continue working. Overall, we have a young team, so I hope everyone will continue to perform. In my opinion, many members of this team will be able to perform well at the 2028 Olympics, if, of course, the IOC understands everything, ”Galstyan told .
The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
